Suryachaur

Suryachaur is a scenic viewpoint at 1,970 meters elevation in Nuwakot District, offering views of the Langtang Himalayan Range and the entire Likhu Valley in central Nepal. The location sits within Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park and is accessible via hiking trails.

The area became regulated through the establishment of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, introducing stricter access rules and protection measures. Nepal Army camps at Gurje Bhanjyang contribute to security and management in this mountain zone.

The hiking paths lead through small villages where you can watch local farmers working their terraced fields. This traditional way of farming shapes daily life across the region.

The viewpoint is accessible by hiking from the Kathmandu Valley and visitors need to obtain a permit from the national park office. The best time to visit is during drier months when mountain visibility is clearest.

On clear days, several major peaks including Mount Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lhakpa and Gaurishankar are visible from this single spot. Seeing this collection of distinctive summits from one vantage point is an uncommon experience.
