Dhanbari Mosque, Historical mosque in Dhanbari Upazila, Bangladesh
Dhanbari Mosque sits alongside Dhanbari Nawab Manzil and features three domes with a minaret set on approximately 10 kathas of land. The structure has multiple entrances facing east, north, and south, and accommodates roughly 200 people during prayer.
The mosque was built during Emperor Jahangir's reign, after Mughal generals Ispinjar Khan and Manawar Khan established their landholdership in Dhanbari. It represents a structure tied to the Mughal period of the region.
Three prayer niches line the qibla wall, with the central one displaying an octagonal shape and floral motifs in Islamic tradition. The decorative elements showcase religious art that would catch a visitor's eye during prayer times.
The prayer space has been renovated and is in good condition for visitors, with multiple entrances that make movement easy. It is advisable to respect dress codes and be considerate during prayer times.
A walled old graveyard lies beside the mosque, extending across approximately half a bigha of land. This burial ground preserves the long-standing connection of the community to this location.
