Rila National Park

The park extends across 81,046 hectares of mountain terrain, containing more than 120 glacial lakes and numerous peaks above 2,000 meters elevation.

Established on February 24, 1992, Rila National Park became Bulgaria's largest protected natural area, preserving ancient forests and glacial formations.

Four nature reserves within the park boundaries protect centuries-old spruce forests, including Parangalitza Reserve, which contains Europe's oldest spruce trees.

The park administration office operates from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, providing visitor information and managing environmental protection programs throughout the area.

Mount Musala, reaching 2,925 meters, stands as the highest peak in the Balkans and marks the park's most elevated point.
