Cherni Vrah, Mountain summit in Vitosha, Bulgaria

The peak reaches an elevation of 2290 meters and features broad stone fields with multiple hiking paths leading to its flat summit area.

In 181 BC, King Philip V of Macedon climbed the peak, marking one of the earliest documented ascents of this Bulgarian mountain.

The first organized group ascent in 1895, led by Aleko Konstantinov with 300 participants, established the beginning of Bulgarian organized tourism.

A weather station from 1935 provides emergency shelter, while the summit restaurant serves traditional bean soup throughout all seasons.

The peak channels water in two directions: north to the Black Sea through Iskar River and south to the Aegean Sea through Struma River.
