Innuitian Mountains, Mountain range in Nunavut and Northwest Territories, Canada.

The Innuitian Mountains stretch across approximately 1,290 kilometers (800 miles) and display a complex landscape made of igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks. The highest point is Barbeau Peak at about 2,616 meters (8,583 feet) on Ellesmere Island.

European exploration began in 1882 when explorer Adolphus Greely documented the mountains during his expedition from Lake Hazen. These early journeys formed the basis for scientific understanding of the range.

The name comes from the Inuit peoples who have lived in northern Canada for countless generations. These mountains remain central to the identity of the communities scattered across this remote land.

The region is extremely remote and has limited access due to harsh climate and isolation. Travelers should prepare for long journeys and minimal facilities in the area.

The United States Range within this system ranks as the second-most northern mountain range on Earth, after the Challenger Mountains. These areas remain among the least explored regions on the planet.
