Kandersteg, municipality in the canton of Bern in Switzerland
Kandersteg is a municipality in the Bernese Oberland region, located in an Alpine valley surrounded by high mountains. The settlement spreads along the Kanderbach stream and serves as a gateway to several hiking trails and mountain passes.
The municipality developed from an Alpine settlement rooted in agriculture and later shaped by tourism. It became a key transportation hub after a railway line opened in the 19th century.
The village is easily accessible by train and offers various accommodations and dining options for visitors. The best time to explore is from May to October, when most trails are snow-free.
