CCIA Building, High-rise office building in Plateau district, Ivory Coast
The CCIA Building is a modern high-rise in the Plateau business district of Abidjan, Ivory Coast, with two reflective glass facades that make it easy to spot from street level. It offers office floors, an underground car park, and a large assembly hall spread across its 28 stories.
The building was completed in 1982 as part of a 1970s urban plan to bring the country's main trade bodies together in one place. That plan was driven by a desire to give Ivorian exports a stronger footing on international markets.
The building houses the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with trade bodies that shape the country's economic life. Walking past its entrance, visitors can observe the steady flow of professionals that give the Plateau district much of its business character.
The building sits in the heart of the Plateau district and is easy to reach on foot from the main streets of central Abidjan. Since it is a working office tower, access to the upper floors generally requires a prior appointment.
Between 2012 and 2013, the tower served as the temporary headquarters of the African Development Bank while the institution was unable to return to its usual premises after the Ivorian crisis. Few office buildings in West Africa have ever hosted a major regional financial institution in that way.
