Xuhui District, Administrative district in Shanghai, China
Xuhui District encompasses 54.76 square kilometers in central Shanghai, containing twelve subdistricts and multiple commercial zones with modern shopping centers.
The district obtained its name from Ming dynasty official Xu Guangqi, who donated his land to the Roman Catholic Church during the French Concession period.
St Ignatius Cathedral, Xuhui College, and Xujiahui Observatory stand as architectural examples of French influence, representing the merge of Eastern and Western design.
Seven metro lines connect Xuhui with other Shanghai areas, while numerous shopping centers like Grand Gateway Shanghai and Pacific Sogo serve local consumers.
