Fuxing Park, Urban park in former French Concession, Shanghai, China
Fuxing Park extends across 10 hectares of land, featuring French-style gardens with fountains, lakes, covered pavilions, and extensive flower beds throughout the grounds.
The park originated in 1909 as the largest green space in Shanghai, transitioning from a military camp during French occupation to its current status as a public recreation area.
Morning activities in the park include groups practicing tai chi, playing mahjong, dancing traditional dances, and engaging in card games near the Marx-Engels statue.
Located at 105 Fuxing West Road, the park welcomes visitors from 5:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily, with access through multiple gates and nearby metro stations.
The park contains over 1,700 ancient plane trees and features a 2,000-square-meter lotus pond in its southwestern section with surrounding pavilion structures.

Beyond its famous landmarks, Shanghai hosts numerous cultural spaces that operate away from major tourist routes. This collection guides visitors to artist districts, private galleries, independent theaters, and historic buildings that offer insight into the city's artistic and intellectual life. These are places where contemporary art is exhibited, experimental performances take place, and Shanghai's history is presented from different perspectives. The selection includes converted industrial buildings now housing studios and exhibition spaces, small museums with specialized collections, and bookstores and cafés that serve as meeting points for artists and culture enthusiasts. These locations provide opportunities to explore the city beyond conventional paths and experience Shanghai's active cultural scene firsthand.
Shanghai combines modern architecture with historic structures. The Bund displays colonial buildings while Pudong's skyscrapers shape the skyline. The city presents traditional gardens, temples, art galleries, and historic districts. The contrasts between old and new appear in streets, markets, and parks.
