Cloud Nine, Skyscraper in Changning District, Shanghai, China.
Cloud Nine is a skyscraper in Shanghai's Changning District, reaching 238 meters across 58 floors with a glass and steel structure. The tower combines office spaces, a large shopping area, and a hotel within the same building.
The tower was designed by the Shanghai Institute of Architectural Design and opened in 2006 after five years of construction. Its completion came as Changning District was growing into one of Shanghai's main commercial zones.
The Chinese name of the building, Long Zhi Meng, translates as Dragon's Dream, drawing on a symbol deeply rooted in Chinese tradition. This name appears on signage throughout the complex, giving the tower a local identity that contrasts with its glass and steel exterior.
The building connects directly to Zhongshan Park Metro Station, served by lines 2, 3, and 4, so arriving by public transport is straightforward. Once inside, different entrances on the ground floor lead to the shopping area, the offices, and the hotel separately.
The Renaissance Hotel inside the tower operates independently from the shopping levels, so guests can sleep, work, and shop without leaving the building. This kind of fully contained mix of uses is not common in this part of Shanghai.
