New Town Central Park, Urban park in Hongqiao Economic Development Zone, Shanghai, China
New Town Central Park is an urban park in the Hongqiao Economic Development Zone featuring expansive eastern and western lawns connected by a central artificial lake. The space includes multiple sports facilities and landscaped areas designed for both active recreation and leisurely strolls.
This park was established in September 2000 through a collaborative project between Canadian and Shanghai landscape architecture firms. The partnership shaped the area's development and helped define modern park design standards for the region.
The park blends traditional Chinese design elements like winding paths, gentle slopes, and water features that evoke the style of classical landscape paintings.
The park is easily accessible by metro line 10 at Yili Road station and offers various sports facilities including football fields, basketball courts, and badminton courts on-site. The space operates 24 hours daily with night lighting, allowing you to visit at any time that suits your schedule.
Since July 2018, the park has operated enhanced security monitoring and night lighting systems, enabling visitors to use the space safely at any hour. This infrastructure allows people to exercise or relax in a secure environment regardless of when they choose to visit.
