Longyan

Longyan is a prefecture-level city in southwestern Fujian that spreads across a large territory divided into seven administrative districts including Xinluo and Yongding. The area blends urban zones with rural regions and offers varied geographical features.

The city began as Tingzhou Prefecture in 736 and was renamed Longyan Prefecture in 1734 when it was reorganized. This change brought together several Hokkien-speaking regions under one administrative structure.

The city shows strong Hakka roots through thousands of traditional rammed earth buildings that dot the landscape, especially around Yongding. Walking through these districts, you notice how the architecture shapes daily life and local identity.
