Luding Bridge, Suspension bridge crossing the Dadu River in Luding County, Sichuan Province, China.
This suspension bridge extends 103 meters across the Dadu River, supported by thirteen iron chains with nine forming the deck and four serving as railings.
Constructed between 1705 and 1706 during the Qing Dynasty under Emperor Kangxi's directive, the bridge facilitated trade routes connecting Sichuan with Tibetan regions.
The bridge gained prominence during the 1935 Long March when 22 Red Army soldiers crossed the chains under enemy fire, becoming a symbol of revolutionary determination.
Located at W66J+PMC on Cheng Wu Lu in Luding County, the bridge is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with an entrance fee of 10 yuan.
Visitors can walk across the original iron chains and wooden planks that have remained functional for over three centuries despite the river's powerful currents below.
