St. Anne's Church, Moxi

St. Anne's Church is a stone building in Moxi that combines Gothic Revival design with Chinese architectural features. The structure displays traditional columns, a bell tower, and blends Western religious architecture with Eastern building principles.

The church was built by the Paris Foreign Missions Society in the late 1800s and later underwent major reconstruction. All expansions and renovations were finished by 1930.

The church blends French religious traditions with local Chinese building styles, visible in its columns and bell tower design. This mix reflects the complex history of the region.

The church sits on the eastern slope of Mount Konka and is accessible via established pathways through Moxi. Access is straightforward on foot, and the location offers views of the surrounding mountainside.

During the Long March in 1935, Mao Zedong stayed at the adjacent Franciscan residence and held an important meeting there. This site remains overlooked in many historical accounts despite its connection to this pivotal period.
