St. Anne's Church, Moxi, Catholic church in Moxi, China

St. Anne's Church, known locally as Moxi Catholic Church, is a brick church in Moxi, Sichuan, with a Chinese-style façade topped by a bell tower. Franciscan missionaries added pavilions and a Spanish-style atrium with angel statues. The interior holds statues and symbolism; the building took nearly five years to complete.

The church was built by the Paris Foreign Missions Society in the late 1800s and later underwent major reconstruction. All expansions and renovations were finished by 1930.

The parish takes its name from Saint Anne, whose octave in 1930 was chosen for the solemn blessing of the rebuilt church. A Valencian Franciscan, Pascual Nadal Oltra, worked here as stonemason and sculptor and carved a Madonna of Consolation for the parish. The Franciscan residence beside the church, where Mao stayed in May 1935, is now a museum of the revolution and the Long March, with a Mao statue in front.

The church sits on the eastern slope of Mount Konka and is accessible via established pathways through Moxi. Access is straightforward on foot, and the location offers views of the surrounding mountainside.
