Moore Temple Ruins

The Moore Temple Ruins contain two distinct stupas, one round and one square, surrounded by multiple ancient building foundations and architectural elements.

Built in the third century AD, this Buddhist temple complex remained active until the tenth century, marking over 700 years of continuous religious practice.

Archaeological excavations revealed thousands of artifacts including plaster statues, Tang Dynasty coins, and textiles made from cotton, linen, and silk materials.

The archaeological site remains closed to public access while researchers continue their work documenting and preserving the ancient temple structures.

Within the ruins stands the most intact earthen stupa found in western China, demonstrating early Buddhist architectural techniques in the Xinjiang region.
