Afaq Khoja Mausoleum

The Afaq Khoja Mausoleum features a central dome rising 17 meters high, surrounded by four corner minarets decorated with geometric patterns and floral motifs.

Built in 1640, this mausoleum contains the remains of Muhammad Yusuf, his son Afaq Khoja, and five generations of the influential Afaqi family, totaling 72 individuals.

The interior holds numerous tombs adorned with blue glazed tiles and silk decorations, including the Casket of Iparhan, a significant figure in local Islamic heritage.

Located 5 kilometers northeast from central Kashgar, the mausoleum requires visitors to arrange private transportation as no direct bus service connects to the site.

The mausoleum complex incorporates a lecture hall, prayer spaces supported by wooden beams, and an active cemetery with distinctive mud and brick tombs.
