The Huangpu Bridge combines suspension and cable-stayed designs to span the Pearl River with a total length of 4.4 miles (7,016 meters) and accommodates multiple lanes of traffic across its 137-foot-wide (41.69-meter) deck.
Construction of the bridge began on December 23, 2003, and it officially opened to traffic on December 16, 2008, after nearly five years of work to create this vital connection across the river.
