Xinguang Bridge

Xinguang Bridge is a steel arch crossing the Pearl River in Guangzhou that carries traffic between different parts of the city. The structure spans over a kilometer and features a distinctive engineering design with its central section reaching far across the water.

The bridge was completed in 2008 and represented a major infrastructure development for Guangzhou at that time. Its construction was driven by the city's rapid expansion and growing need for better connections across the river.

The bridge links multiple districts of Guangzhou, connecting neighborhoods and supporting the growth of commercial activities in the surrounding areas.

Walking across the bridge offers views of the river and the city skyline from different angles. The best experience is early in the morning or late afternoon when traffic is lighter and the light is softer.

The bridge employs a hybrid design combining prestressed concrete with steel truss ribs, a method rarely seen in other crossings of this region. This engineering approach was chosen to maximize strength while minimizing the overall weight of the structure.
