Guangzhou Circle, Commercial skyscraper in Liwan District, Guangzhou, China
Guangzhou Circle is a commercial office tower featuring a distinctive circular design with a large central opening measuring about 48 meters across. The building rises through 33 floors with approximately 85,000 square meters of office space distributed throughout.
The structure was designed by Italian architect Joseph di Pasquale and completed in December 2013 as the headquarters for Hongda Xingye Group and Guangdong Plastic Exchange. This completion marked the arrival of a new architectural landmark in the district.
The circular form references ancient Chinese jade bi discs, carrying symbolic meaning for prosperity and harmony. This design choice makes the building speak to visitors about traditional values within a modern context.
The building sits along Dongsha Avenue and is conveniently reached via Xilang metro station nearby. The best viewing experience comes during daylight hours when the water reflection is most visible and impressive.
When reflected in the adjacent Pearl River, the circular structure creates the outline of a figure eight. This optical effect transforms the building into a visual embodiment of a geometric principle that appears accidental but was deliberately conceived.
