Jiefang Bridge, Road bridge in Haizhu District, Guangzhou, China
Jiefang Bridge is a road bridge that crosses the Pearl River, linking the Haizhu and Yuexiu districts of Guangzhou. The structure has a central span of approximately 85 meters and accommodates both vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
The bridge was completed and opened in February 1998 as part of Guangzhou's efforts to expand transportation connections across the Pearl River. It emerged during a period when the city was rapidly developing its infrastructure to support growing urban traffic needs.
The bridge serves as a central location for the traditional Dragon Boat Race events, where teams compete on the Pearl River waters beneath its structure.
The bridge functions as one of nine key crossings between Haizhu and downtown Guangzhou, which means traffic can be heavy during peak hours. Pedestrians can use sidewalks on both sides of the structure, making it possible to walk across safely.
Located at coordinates 23°06′51″N and 113°15′31″E, the bridge connects with Jiefang South Road on its northern end and Tongqing Road on its southern section.
