Guangzhou Uprising Museum, Historical revolution museum in Yuexiu District, Guangzhou, China

The Guangzhou Uprising Museum is a historical building in Yuexiu that displays photographs, documents, and objects from the period of revolutionary movement. The collection spans multiple exhibition areas with materials that document the struggles and events of that era.

The museum preserves records and materials from the 1927 uprising, which marked a turning point in Chinese revolutionary movements. This event and its aftermath are central to understanding the political developments of that time.

The site is the former Guangdong Provincial Public Security Bureau building on Weixin Road, renamed Qiyi (Uprising) Road after the events of 1927. Ye Jianying inscribed the plaque reading "Former Site of Guangzhou Commune". The memorial hall is part of the Guangdong Revolutionary History Museum and has been a National 4A-rated tourist area since March 2023.

The museum stands at No. 200-1 Qiyi Road in Yuexiu District, on the site of the former Guangdong Provincial Public Security Bureau. The Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau and the Guangzhou State Security Bureau still occupy neighbouring premises and share the same street number, so check the entrance before going in. The memorial hall is part of the Guangdong Revolutionary History Museum and has been a national 4A-rated tourist area since March 2023.

The site was the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Bureau until 1949, when the People's Liberation Army took Guangzhou and the municipal government installed the city's police force here. The police only handed the last buildings, the north building and the detention centre, to the cultural relics department at the end of 2005; during the 2006 renovation, shells and pistols were dug out of the north building. The bureau and the Guangzhou State Security Bureau still share the museum's street number.
