Church of Heavenly Peace, Fuzhou, Protestant church in Cangshan District, Fuzhou, China
The Church of Heavenly Peace stands on Cangqian Hill, featuring a large structure that covers 2,300 square meters overlooking the Min River.
Established in 1856 by American Methodist Episcopal missionaries, this building became the first Methodist church in China offering services in English.
The church represents the integration of Protestant Christianity in Eastern China through its architectural elements and continuous religious services since the 19th century.
Following renovations completed in 1999 at a cost of 3 million yuan, the church building can accommodate up to 1,000 people for regular services.
Sun Yat-sen delivered a speech at this church in 1913, marking its role in the political transformation of early 20th-century China.
