The alley originated during the Jin Dynasty and reached its peak during the Ming and Qing Dynasties as part of the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys district.
This preserved street contains the former residence of Yan Fu at number 20, which combines traditional Fuzhou architecture with Western design elements.
The alley remains accessible throughout the day, with specific heritage buildings opening from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM for visitors to explore.
Over 200 original Ming and Qing dynasty structures line this alley and its surrounding area, forming an open-air museum of historical architecture.
