Old South Kowloon District Court

Old South Kowloon District Court, Grade I historic courthouse in Yau Tsim Mong District, Hong Kong.

The Old South Kowloon District Court stands on Gascoigne Road with colonial-style architecture featuring balanced proportions and classical details. The building contains dedicated courtrooms and administrative spaces typical of early 20th-century legal facilities.

The building was constructed in 1933 by architect Richard McNeil Henderson as a courthouse for minor criminal cases. It later became a military headquarters during Japanese occupation before returning to judicial use.

The building reflects how Hong Kong's legal system changed through different eras and rulers. The courtroom layout and design choices show how justice was administered across these periods.

The building sits near several MTR stations in the Yau Ma Tei area, making it easily accessible by public transport. Note that parts of the structure may have restricted access due to ongoing judicial operations.

After 1997 the building housed the Judiciary Central File Repository before becoming the home of the Lands Tribunal. This shift shows how the structure adapted to serve different administrative needs over time.
