Mong Kok Computer Centre, Electronics shopping center in Mong Kok, Hong Kong.
Mong Kok Computer Centre is an electronics shopping center in the Yau Tsim Mong District of Hong Kong, spread across four floors. It houses dozens of specialized shops selling computers, parts, accessories, and peripherals, with each floor tending to group similar products together.
The center grew out of Hong Kong's role as a major trading hub for electronics in Asia during the 1980s and 1990s. In 2007, a Singapore-based investment fund acquired the building and renovated it.
Many vendors here speak Cantonese and are used to helping both locals and visitors find what they need. Bargaining is not common, but asking for a small discount on a bundle of items is generally accepted.
The center is a short walk from Mong Kok MTR station, using exits D3 or E2. Weekday mornings tend to be less crowded than weekends, making it easier to browse and ask questions at each stall.
Several shops here stock used or refurbished components, which makes it possible to find older parts that are no longer sold in mainstream stores. This makes the center a practical stop for anyone trying to repair or upgrade an older machine.
