Shunfeng Mountain Park, Public park in Foshan, China
Shunfeng Mountain Park is a public mountain park in Foshan, featuring natural walking trails, two artificial lakes, and traditional Chinese pavilions spread across its grounds. The site combines hilly terrain with garden-style areas and also contains historical towers that were kept when the park was developed.
The park opened in 1999, when a mountain that had long served as a strategic lookout point was turned into a public recreation area. During the construction, the existing historical structures on the site were kept, and new pathways and water features were added around them.
In the early morning, many local people gather in the park to practice Tai Chi and other traditional exercises. The curved pavilions and paved pathways follow classical Chinese garden design, where water, stone, and planting are arranged to work together.
The park has several entrances and is open every day with free entry for all visitors. Because the terrain is hilly, wearing comfortable shoes is a good idea, especially if you plan to walk up to the higher trails or towers.
The two towers in the park, Qingyun and Jiuzhai, are known for a rare sight: on some early mornings, clouds settle below the hilltop and from the upper platforms you look down onto a sea of white cloud rather than up at the sky. This effect is most likely to happen after rainy nights, so visiting on a morning after rain gives you the best chance of seeing it.
