Dameisha Beach, Public beach park in Yantian District, China
Dameisha Beach is a public beach park on the coast of Mirs Bay in the Yantian District of Shenzhen. The site sits at the foot of wooded hills and offers sandy shores, changing rooms, showers, and open squares along the waterfront.
The site opened to the public in 1999, turning this stretch of coast into a large recreation area. Its popularity grew alongside the rapid development of Shenzhen in the following years.
The beach has two main gathering areas called Sun Square and Moon Square, where families and groups spend time by the water. These open spaces show how the shoreline works as a place for everyday social life in Shenzhen.
Lockers and showers are available throughout the park for a fee. Visiting on a weekday morning tends to be more comfortable, as the beach can get very crowded on weekends and public holidays.
The Wishing Tower stands over the water and is one of the few spots in the park where you can look out over the bay from an elevated point. What many visitors do not know is that entry to the park itself is free, making it one of the rare no-cost beach parks in the Shenzhen area.
