Chun Yeung Estate, Public housing estate in Fo Tan, Hong Kong
Chun Yeung Estate is a public housing complex in Fo Tan, part of Sha Tin District. The site consists of five residential blocks containing 4,846 apartments, home to around 8,400 residents.
The site served as Citybus Fo Tan depot and Fo Tan Cottage Area until 2000. Residents moved to Chung On Estate in Ma On Shan before the new housing complex was planned.
The outer walls of the residential blocks display a grid pattern inspired by Dutch painter Piet Mondrian's geometric compositions. This artistic reference gives the buildings a visual character rarely seen in Hong Kong's public housing estates.
The housing complex offers basketball courts, badminton courts, and several outdoor playgrounds. A covered play area for children is located inside Chun Sze House.
When construction finished in 2020, the government temporarily used the empty apartments as quarantine facilities during the pandemic. Regular residents moved in only after this temporary public health use ended.
