Neustadt an der Waldnaab

The district encompasses 38 municipalities across 1,428 square kilometers of land in Bavaria, featuring forested areas and mountainous terrain at 450 meters elevation.

Established on July 1, 1862, the district expanded in 1972 through the merger of three existing territories: Neustadt an der Waldnaab, Eschenbach, and Vohenstrauß.

The district coat of arms displays the Palatinate lion, three stars representing Störnstein county, and blue-white bars symbolizing Leuchtenberg county.

The administrative center manages public services for 94,838 residents while maintaining connections with neighboring regions through an established road and railway network.

Two main headstreams, the Waldnaab and Haidenaab rivers, traverse the district before joining in the southern section to form the River Naab.
