Depot Immermannstraße, Motive power depot and architectural heritage monument in Dortmund, Germany

Depot Immermannstraße is a former tram workshop featuring a neoclassical brick front and large interior hall with steel beam roof construction. The building displays the sturdy design of early industrial architecture across its substantial footprint.

The building was constructed between 1915 and 1916 as the central maintenance hub for Dortmund's tram system. After tram operations ended in 1996, the site underwent complete transformation.

The space attracted various creative professionals and now hosts designers, photographers, and performing artists who work and exhibit here together. These studios and galleries have made it a meeting point for the city's art communities.

The venue hosts regular events including markets, exhibitions, and performances, so checking the program ahead of a visit is worthwhile. The open spaces allow flexible exploration of different areas.

The renovation was funded through government support, but local members also contributed thousands of hours of personal work to bring the space back to life. This shared effort reflects the community's investment in the site.
