Europaviertel, neighborhood of Frankfurt, Germany
Europaviertel is a new urban district in the western part of Frankfurt, built on the land of a former freight railway station. It brings together residential buildings, office towers, shops, and green areas, all laid out within a single connected area.
The district was built on the site of Frankfurt's freight railway station, which closed at the end of the 1990s. Work on the first buildings started around 2006, and the area has been growing steadily since then.
The name Europaviertel reflects the international character of the area, visible in the mix of cafes, restaurants, and shops from different countries. Walking through the wide streets, you notice how office workers and residents share the same public spaces throughout the day.
The district is easy to reach by public transport, with several bus and tram lines connecting it directly to the city center. Wide pavements and cycle paths make it simple to get around on foot or by bike once you arrive.
The Grand Tower, one of Germany's tallest residential buildings at over 170 meters (about 558 feet), rises above the district and is visible from far across the city. The Europagarten park, which opened in 2018, sits right at the foot of these towers, offering a patch of greenery that many visitors do not expect to find in such a dense area.
