The Eschkopf tower is a 20-meter-tall sandstone structure that stands on a hilltop in Wilgartswiesen. The building rises at roughly 608 meters above sea level in the Palatine Forest.
The tower was built as a regional landmark for the Palatinate and has stood on the summit since its creation. It is now protected as a cultural heritage monument of the region.
The name Eschkopf refers to the hilltop location in this area. Visitors can see a typical example of how local sandstone was used in regional structures.
Several walking paths branch out from here to nearby areas, with elevations staying above 450 meters throughout. The location works well for rest stops and as a starting point for longer hikes in the region.
The tower marks the northernmost peak among a group of four hills over 600 meters high. The main watershed line of the Palatine Forest runs through this location.
