Roggendorf-Haus, Modern architectural structure in Düsseldorf harbor, Germany.
The Roggendorf-Haus is an architectural structure in Düsseldorf located at Speditionstraße 15a that rises across multiple floors in the harbor's industrial district. The building occupies significant space and now serves different purposes while maintaining its place in the district's built landscape.
The building originally functioned as a warehouse for Josef Roggendorf's company until 1996, when the city of Düsseldorf took over its management. This change of ownership marked the beginning of its transformation toward new uses.
The building gained recognition for its 24 climbing sculptures called Flossi created by artist Rosalie, which decorated the facade from 2002 to 2018. This art installation shaped how visitors experienced the harbor district and drew people interested in contemporary public art.
The upper floors are now home to a startup center and are accessible to visitors during operating hours. It is best to confirm opening times beforehand since the space is designed primarily for business activities.
The art sculptures on the facade were actually used by climbers as training objects, giving the artwork a functional dimension beyond pure aesthetics. This blend of artistic expression and practical activity made the location distinctly memorable for people who experienced it.
