Athens Klepsydra well, Archaeological spring at the northwest slope of Acropolis, Greece
The Klepsydra spring flows from a natural cave into a rectangular stone structure measuring 8 meters by 7 meters at the base of Acropolis.
The water source dates back to the 13th century BC, when it was discovered during fortification work, leading to the construction of 22 wells.
The spring received its name from the Greek word meaning 'stolen water' due to the intermittent nature of its water flow affected by landslides.
The site remains accessible through stone-carved steps near the intersection of ancient Panathenaic Way and Peripatos street in central Athens.
The spring house features an L-shaped platform with a built stairway that provided water access from ground level to the reservoir.
