Livaditis, Mountain waterfall in Xanthi Municipality, Greece

The Livaditis waterfall drops 60 meters in a single vertical cascade, forming one of the largest water features in the Balkan region.

The waterfall and surrounding Haidou Forest have remained unaltered since ancient times, when the area was associated with mythological stories of Dionysus.

Local traditions tell stories of fairies who would gather at the waterfall to weave garments on stone looms near the flowing waters.

Visitors can access the waterfall through a marked 7.5-kilometer trail from Livaditis village, with the hike taking approximately one and a half hours.

During winter months, the falling water transforms into frozen formations, creating natural ice sculptures that change shape throughout the cold season.
