Dragon's Cave

Dragon's Cave is a natural cave near Kalabaka with a wide entrance opening into several interconnected chambers of varying sizes. Inside, narrow passages and alcoves branch off, revealing the complex layout of this underground system.

Archaeological excavations uncovered remains from two distinct prehistoric periods, spanning thousands of years of human use. The findings show that people repeatedly returned to this location across different eras.

The cave served as a shelter for early humans over many millennia, with traces of their presence still visible on the walls and floor. These marks reveal how people used the space and how central this location was to their survival.

The site sits elevated above the surrounding plain and offers different vantage points to survey the landscape. Access is via paths that lead past the natural opening, from where you can easily reach the different sections inside.

Footprints left by children who lived in the cave thousands of years ago remain preserved and visible to visitors. These personal impressions bring the early inhabitants to life in a tangible way.
