La Rosière, Ski resort in Montvalezan, France.
La Rosière is a ski resort situated at 1850 meters elevation in Savoie that connects through a cross-border network to the Italian station La Thuile. Together the two locations form a large ski area with hundreds of kilometers of slopes and numerous lift installations.
The area emerged as a standalone ski station and later developed into an international destination. The merger with La Thuile in December 1984 created a cross-border ski region and marked an important moment for winter sports in the Alps.
The resort features traditional Savoyard architecture with stone and wood buildings that reflect the alpine crafts heritage of the region. Visitors experience here a blend of French and Italian mountain cultural influences in daily life and local cuisine.
The resort is accessible from several major airports, with transfer times ranging between 90 and 180 minutes depending on your arrival point. The best time to visit depends on personal preference, with winter being the peak season when all slopes are fully operational.
Skiers can move between France and Italy on a single day and explore over one hundred slopes across both nations. This makes it a rare experience to combine two countries while skiing, without lengthy travel times between locations.
