Caserne de Bonne, Military barracks and shopping center in Grenoble, France
The Caserne de Bonne spans 26,000 square meters and combines retail spaces, offices, student residences, and parking facilities within a redeveloped military complex.
Built in 1883 for artillery forces, the barracks witnessed a notable Resistance action in December 1943 when thirty tons of munitions were destroyed.
The transformation from military grounds to an urban development zone demonstrates the evolution of Grenoble's architectural and social landscape through time.
The complex features 350 parking spaces, 30 retail stores, restaurants, and connects to the city through two tram lines and six bus routes.
The development received multiple sustainability certifications, including the EcoQuartier National Award in 2009 and Breeam In Use Outstanding label in 2013.
