Le Pain de Sucre, Mountain summit at France-Italy border, Hautes-Alpes.
The Pain de Sucre rises to 3208 meters elevation, featuring a steep path that circles around its base before reaching the final challenging ascent.
The summit was originally named Aiguillette before receiving its current designation, marking a significant point along the France-Italy mountain border region.
The mountain serves as a natural boundary between French Hautes-Alpes department and Italian Piedmont region, connecting two Alpine cultural territories.
The hiking route begins at Refuge Agnel at 2580 meters, extending 6 kilometers with a 600-meter elevation gain over approximately three hours.
Stone shelters at the summit provide protection from winds while offering views of Monte Viso, Mont Blanc, and the surrounding Alpine peaks.
