Piton Carré, Mountain summit in Hautes-Pyrénées, France

Piton Carré reaches an elevation of 3,197 meters within the Vignemale massif, featuring multiple climbing routes across its rocky north face and ridges.

The first documented climb of Piton Carré occurred in 1822 when V. de Chausenque completed the traverse from Petit Vignemale along the connecting ridge.

The mountain stands as part of the Pyrenees National Park, representing the natural heritage of the French-Spanish border region and its mountaineering traditions.

Climbers can access the summit through the Glacier d'Ossoue route, with the Refuge de Bayssellance offering overnight accommodations at 2,650 meters elevation.

The peak ranks as the seventh highest in the Pyrenees, positioned between two major valleys: the Vallée de Gaube and Vallée d'Ossoue.
