Vignemale, Mountain summit between Hautes-Pyrénées, France and Huesca Province, Spain

The Vignemale massif rises to 3,299 meters and features multiple peaks, including Grand Vignemale, Pointe Chausenque at 3,204 meters, and Petit Vignemale at 3,032 meters.

English mountaineer Anne Lister completed the first documented ascent in 1838, accompanied by three local guides who navigated through the challenging terrain to reach the peak.

Count Henry Russell obtained rights to govern over 200 hectares of the mountain above 2,300 meters in 1889, receiving a concession valid for 99 years.

The Refuge des Oulettes de Gaube at the base of the North Face provides essential shelter for mountaineers, while the Refuge Bayssellance stands at 2,651 meters.

The mountain contains seven artificial caves, commissioned by Count Russell, where he organized meetings and spent considerable time exploring the surrounding landscapes.
