The park opened on May 27, 1950, when six Finnish child welfare organizations leased land to establish a recreational facility after World War II.

Linnanmäki contributes to Finnish society through the Children's Day Foundation, directing its revenue toward child welfare projects throughout Finland.

Located near central Helsinki, the park operates from April to October and receives approximately one million visitors through accessible public transportation.

The wooden roller coaster Vuoristorata has maintained continuous operation since 1951, making it one of the oldest functioning attractions in Finland.
