Alppila water towers, Water towers in Alppila district, Helsinki, Finland.
Two distinct water towers stand near Tivolikuja street: a square-shaped structure and a round tower built in different periods.
The initial square tower, designed by civil engineer Endre Lekve, was constructed in 1876 and underwent expansions in 1902 and 1915.
These structures represent the evolution of Finnish urban infrastructure and stand as examples of engineering methods from different periods.
Both towers ceased their water distribution operations in 2003, with the square tower holding 13,000 cubic meters and the round one 16,000.
The round tower, completed in 1938, emerged from the collaboration between architect Gunnar Taucher and civil engineer Emil Holmberg.
