Kultiplex, Alternative cultural center in Ferencvaros, Budapest, Hungary.
Kultiplex was a cultural center housed in a renovated early 20th-century residential building on Kinizsi Street in Ferencvaros. The space combined a cinema, concert hall, and community areas to serve alternative audiences.
The building started as a Teachers' Home in the early 1900s and converted to a cinema by 1923. It went through several transformations before becoming a diverse cultural venue.
The center featured independent film screenings, jazz concerts, hip-hop performances, and hosted the studio of Tilos Radio until its closure in 2008.
The venue was easily reached by public transportation and offered diverse entertainment options for younger audiences. The location in Ferencvaros with good transit connections made visiting straightforward.
Before its closure, the center hosted the Dozer Festival, a month-long farewell celebration for the community. The site was later transformed into a public park after demolition.
