Bodor Musical Fountain, Musical fountain on Margaret Island, Hungary
The Bodor Musical Fountain on Margaret Island is a musical fountain with a 35-meter-diameter pool holding about 400 cubic meters of water. Synchronized water sprays are accompanied by music throughout the day, creating an active and engaging display at this location.
The structure is based on an inventor's design from the 1820s by Peter Bodor, originally built in Marosvásárhely. The concept was brought to Margaret Island and reconstructed as a musical fountain in 1936.
The fountain takes its name from Peter Bodor, a 19th-century Transylvanian inventor whose original concept has been brought back to life here. The regular performances with synchronized water displays and music have become a gathering place where locals and visitors pause to watch and listen.
The fountain operates from around 10 AM to 10 PM, and visitors can watch the performances for free from outside the barriers. Evening shows include lighting effects that highlight the water, making them especially worthwhile to see.
The structure features a rotating statue on top of a pavilion-like base with a semi-spherical dome that serves as both a timekeeper and performance center. This dual function makes it more than just a water display.
