Húszemeletes, High-rise residential tower in Veszprém, Hungary
Húszemeletes is a concrete residential tower in central Veszprém containing 130 apartments spread across nineteen floors. The structure features a specialized heating system with warm-air ventilators and maintains a large water reservoir on its roof to supply the upper levels.
The tower was completed in 1975 under architect István Márton during a period of modern urban development in Hungary. The original design proposed twenty-two floors, but municipal authorities approved only nineteen levels.
The name translates literally to 'nineteen-storey,' reflecting how locals identify the tower by this distinctive height. Residents use it as a visual landmark throughout the city center, as it stands out in views from many neighborhoods.
The tower is centrally located in Veszprém and easily accessible on foot from other main sites in the city center. The building's specialized systems were designed for operation in a moderate continental climate, so its heating and water systems perform optimally during cooler seasons.
The top floor originally housed the Panoráma Presszó bar, a gathering place with views across the city. Later this space was converted into a radio studio that broadcast programs to the surrounding area.
