Barehipani Falls, Two-tiered waterfall in Mayurbhanj district, India
The Barehipani Falls drops 399 meters from the cliffs of Simlipal National Park, forming two distinct tiers along the Budhabalanga River course.
The falls became a protected natural monument in 1979 when the Simlipal area received national park status under the Indian government conservation program.
Local tribal communities of Mayurbhanj district perform traditional ceremonies near the waterfall during annual harvest festivals, maintaining centuries-old customs.
Visitors need permits from the Simlipal National Park authorities to access the falls, and the monsoon season between July and September offers maximum water flow.
Black bears and Indian elephants frequently visit the water pools at the base of Barehipani Falls during early morning hours.
