Diskit Monastery, Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Nubra Valley, India.
The monastery stands on a hill at 3,144 meters elevation, containing multiple shrines, temples, and a prayer hall with traditional Buddhist artwork.
Changzem Tserab Zangpo established the monastery in the 14th century, making it the first Buddhist center in the Nubra Valley region of Ladakh.
The Dosmoche festival in February features mask dances performed by lamas and draws participants from villages across the Nubra Valley.
Visitors need to register at Khardung La pass before entering Nubra Valley, with access limited during winter months from October to May.
A 33-meter statue of Maitreya Buddha faces the Shyok River toward Pakistan, representing regional peace aspirations since its 2010 installation.
