Gorakhpur division

Gorakhpur division is an administrative region in eastern Uttar Pradesh comprising four districts: Gorakhpur, Deoria, Kushinagar, and Maharajganj. These four districts spread across a large area and together form a significant administrative zone in northern India.

The region came under British East India Company control in 1801 after being taken from the Nawab of Awadh. This colonial period shaped the administrative structures that still organize the region today.
