Amirthi Zoological Park

Amirthi Zoological Park is a wildlife facility located near Vellore set within forested grounds. The park houses deer, foxes, monkeys, turtles, peacocks, crocodiles, and wild cats in natural enclosures.

The Tamil Nadu Forest Department founded this facility in 1967 to protect regional wildlife species in a dedicated space. The park was developed to conserve animals within an environment that mimicked their natural habitats.

The park serves as an educational center where students and families learn about native Indian wildlife through guided tours and informational displays.

The facility sits roughly 30 kilometers from Vellore and is most easily reached by vehicle. Wear sturdy shoes since pathways wind through forested terrain and can become slippery, especially after rain.

A natural waterfall within the grounds flows most powerfully during monsoon months, creating dramatic scenery. The water volume shifts dramatically between seasons, offering visitors very different views depending on when they arrive.
